The Butler County Board of Elections is in need of community-minded individuals wanting to work in one of the highest forms of public service.
Why am I needed?
Without Poll Worker's commitment to public service and their communities, the election would not be possible. Poll Workers help ensure that the election process at the polls is both fair and impartial and that the elections laws set forth by the State of Ohio are being carried out properly.
Who is Eligible?
* A United States Citizen with transportation * Registered voter in Butler County or a 17 year old High School Senior * Willing to attend a training session * Enjoy working with people. * Have never been convicted of a felony * Able to read and write in English * Ability to lift 25 lbs with assistance from another individual * Available for current or future elections
What are the Responsibilities of a Poll Worker?
*Attend a training session, approximately three hours long. *Poll Workers report to polling location Monday before election for a organizational meeting. *Report to polling location Tuesday Morning by 5:30 a.m. and serve until all duties are completed after closing of the polls. *Verify voter eligibility, process voters, issue ballots to voters, and breaking down voting units and pack up all supplies after the polls close at 7:30 p.m.
Where will I work?
We now use the majority of schools and other public buildings around the county. Every effort will be made to place you in a location that is convenient for you whenever possible.
When am I needed?
Ohio has three types of elections, a primary, a general and a special election and all polling locations must be fully staffed for each election. View Upcoming Elections
How much will I be paid?
Poll Workers earn between $126 to $166.
