Work a Day, Share Your Pay
Non-Profit Fundraising Program

The Butler County Board of Elections is partnering with local churches and other non-profit organizations in a “Work a Day, Share Your Pay” program.

How does it work?
Through the “Work a Day, Share Your Pay” program, you can partner with us in helping to recruit volunteers and patrons to work the polls.  In turn, those workers would pledge to donate all or part of their poll worker salary to your organization.  Each precinct election official earns a minimum of $165 for each election.  So, if you help to recruit just three workers, your organization could raise nearly $500!

And, there’s no limit to the number of workers who can participate in this program – and therefore no limit to the fundraising potential for your organization!

This is an easy fundraising opportunity for you, and it also provides an exciting and important opportunity for your volunteers and patrons to participate in a meaningful civic activity by working the polls.  We hope you will consider participating. Just send in the completed form and we'll do the rest.

Who can be a poll worker?
To be a poll worker in Butler County, you must be:

  • A United States Citizen with transportation
  • A registered voter in Butler County or a 17 year old High School Senior (need to register?)
  • Have never been convicted of a felony
  • Able to read and write in English
  • Willing to attend a training session
  • Enjoy working with people
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs with assistance from another individual
  • Available for current or future elections

What does a poll worker have to do?
All precinct election officials are required to attend a 3-hour training session scheduled by the Board of Elections, report to their polling place at 6:30pm on the Monday before Election Day to set up, and expect to work from 5:30 a.m. (polls open at 6:30 a.m.) until about 8:30 p.m. (polls closed at 7:30 p.m.) on Election Day.
